The beginning
The Beginning of My Search for Truth
My search for answers began when I was a teenager. Even then, I wanted to understand whether there could be a cure for major diseases, including cancer.
I began studying traditional medicine, but my critical-thinking mind was not convinced that it contained all the solutions I was seeking. This led me to spend six years travelling around the world, studying different cultures, religions and healing practices, including six months in India.
When I returned home to New Zealand, I considered returning to Western university studies. However, everything I had learned during my travels had convinced me even more strongly that the answers I sought were not contained within one system alone.
Then, through synchronicity, I saw an advertisement for a Reiki talk. I attended and was immediately in awe of the remarkable woman dancing in front of me. She had the most magnetic, peaceful energy I had ever encountered.
I signed up to study with her. Over the following three and a half years in the early 1990s, I completed full traditional Usui Reiki Master training. This became the foundation of my lifelong study of energy medicine and the connection between body, mind and spirit.
Lived experience
My Personal Healing Journey
My understanding of healing was deepened profoundly through my own experience of severe pain, trauma and loss of function. I lived through a serious car accident, a stroke, a fractured spine, memory loss and debilitating fibromyalgia.
At times, my physical condition made it necessary for me to use a wheelchair. I felt as though I had lost the ability to control my own body. The effects on my concentration and memory were also profound—I was unable to read a book for eight years.
Throughout this time, I was also a single mother. I had to navigate the pain, disability and uncertainty of my own healing journey while raising and caring for my child.
After making significant progress with the physical symptoms caused by the car accident, I faced another profound challenge—a cancer diagnosis. I chose to navigate this chapter without conventional Western medical treatment, drawing instead on the healing knowledge, practices and inner awareness I had developed over many years. This was my personal journey and personal choice; it is not intended as medical advice or as a recommendation for others to decline conventional medical care.
These experiences gave me a deeply personal understanding of what it feels like to live in a body that has been through too much. I understand the frustration, fear and exhaustion that can accompany chronic pain, limited mobility and the loss of abilities once taken for granted. I also understand how frightening and isolating it can feel when your body does not respond in the way you expect and you feel unable to control it.
When conventional approaches were not giving me all the answers I needed, I continued exploring other ways of understanding the connection between the body, mind, emotions and spirit. This eventually led me to BodyTalk, where I trained directly with Dr John Veltheim, the founder of the BodyTalk System.
Experience and intuition
A Lifelong Study of Healing
My work today draws on more than 35 years of study across multiple healing approaches. My training and experience include traditional Usui Reiki Master training, Advanced PaRama BodyTalk, Akashic Records, Animal BodyTalk, Energy Healing, Psychic Surgery, Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), Thought Field Therapy (TFT), NLP, Subconscious Belief work, Anatomy and Physiology, BioEnergetics and the beginning of traditional medical-degree studies.
The knowledge gained through my travels, formal training, personal healing experiences and continued study has shown me that no single technique is right for every person. Each client brings a different history, story, body, emotional experience and set of needs.
This is why I do not work from a fixed formula. I combine my training, lived experience and intuition to create a session that is personalised to the individual in front of me.
My role is not to see people as broken. I see a body, mind and energy system that may simply be asking to be heard, supported and brought back into better communication. During a session, I work with the innate wisdom of the body to identify its priorities and determine what it is ready to address.
My experiences have given me a particular understanding of physical injury, chronic pain, debilitating illness, limited mobility, surgery preparation and recovery, scar healing, emotional overwhelm and the loss of confidence that can happen when the body has been under prolonged stress.
Above all, I want every person who works with me to feel safe, seen and heard. I understand the courage it can take to seek help and to hope that change is still possible.
My intention is to offer compassionate, personalised support that helps each client reconnect with themselves and move forward with greater clarity, balance and wellbeing.
